Sorare Enters Baseball Through Home-Run Partnership with MLB

Sorare, the formidable football (soccer) trading card NFT platform, has ventured into the wider world of sports for the first time to form a partnership with Major League Baseball in the United States (MLB).

Currently dubbed ‘Sorare MLB NFT’, the new platform will be the first free-to-play NFT-based baseball game, simultaneously featuring the 11.75 million MLB audience to a completely new way of interacting with the sport.

Although more details about the platform will be revealed closer to the product launch (which will take place in the summer of 2022), it seems that the game will mimic that of its popular soccer counterpart. Fans will be encouraged to create the best team of MLB Player NFT Cards as possible, which they can then share and celebrate through a gamified experience. In addition, opportunities to connect with athletes and clubs during live baseball games are also expected to be offered to the community.

OneTeam, the licensing partner of the MLB Players Association (MLBPA), facilitated the historic partnership, and its Chief Product Officer, Henry Lowenfels, had this to say: “We are proud to have collaborated with visionary partners at Sorare, who have reinvented the fan experience through their NFT-based games. The partnership will bring fans even closer to the extraordinary MLB players they admire as we explore new ways to play and collect.”
